Crossroads Children's Chorus Festival is the creation of Martha Wright, who is also the founder of the host choir for the CCCF-the West Tennessee Youth Chorus (WTYC).
After taking her group on tours for thirteen years--from the White House to the Vatican, Pearl Harbor to the English Channel, Versailles to Venice, from the Mississippi to the Seine, Wright cites a dawning need for an international festival destination within the United States.
The goal of the CCCF is to provide the best of everything--accommodations, music, conductors, choirs, and an unforgettable week of education and performances with celebrity role models to inspire children.
Realizing how grueling touring can be on directors, the CCCF provides to the directors an environment (as one said "like a rain forest") of coddling and pampering. Crossroads enables choirs to learn and perform at their rested best.
As it turns out, the Gaylord Opryland Resort, built on 40 acres, has everything a family needs to enjoy a lively and reasonably priced vacation by joining in a Festival Companion Package-Southern hospitality at its best, specialty shops, gourmet restaurants, an ambience like no other with 40 ft waterfalls and an indoor river with boat ride (inside) 4 entertainment/pool areas, the hotel's luxurious Relache spa, and nearby the General Jackson Showboat, the Grand Ole Opry House and downtown just a few minutes away, the Ryman auditorium, Wildhorse Saloon and much more.
Siblings and parents of performing children are proud to witness their children perform on a world-class stage, with world-class celebrities. In Nashville the whole family finds a unique set of activities they never dreamed of--much which is within walking distance!
Martha Wright witnessed the value of young singers performing with good role models in a professional setting after her choir received two invitations to open the Presidential Christmas Tree Lighting-National Pageant of Peace at the White House, Washington, DC. The West TN Youth Chorus shared the stage with Presidents Clinton and President Bush, and numerous other celebrity performers and accomplished dignitaries.
Wright discovered that opportunities to share the stage with successful artists and dignitaries, as well as performing with professional instrumental ensembles, fairly ignited children's creative imaginations and expanded their expectations "of what is possible in life-- that they too, can achieve their dreams and ambitions." This became the main theme of The Crossroads Children's Chorus Festival.
Therefore, Mrs.Wright has carefully chosen and enlisted the support of celebrities who are the best role models for the children! Many of her choices have overcome much adversity in life to achieve their dreams. During the festival, children are allowed access to the celebrities and given the opportunity to ask them questions and meet the performers. All have been an inspiration to children and adults alike.
It will be an opportunity of a lifetime for your children to perform on the Grand Ole Opry House stage, the perfect setting for combining the best of classical children's choirs on a professional stage with professional artists of various genres and members of the grammy award-winning Nashville Symphony.
Choirs will explore the common roots of music as they create many lasting memories and friends!
